Serves 5 people


Apple filling-

Butter for greasing

4 Honeycrisp apples, unpeeled and thickly sliced

Zest from ½ a lemon

Juice from 1 lemon

150 grams (¾ cup) sugar

4 tablespoons flour

1 tablespoon cinnamon

1 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1 tablespoon vanilla extract

A few pinches salt


Oat crumble-

90 grams (¾ cup) flour

150 grams (¾ cup) sugar

110 grams (½ cup) brown sugar

45 grams (½ cup) oats

1 teaspoon cinnamon

¾ teaspoon salt

1 stick butter, diced 


Serve with vanilla ice cream (optional) 


Heat oven to 190 C (375 F, Gas Mark 5) and lightly grease a circular baking dish with butter. 

Add all of the apple filling ingredients to a large bowl. Toss gently with a wooden spoon to coat the apples evenly in the mixture. Pour apples onto your greased baking dish. 

Add all of the crumble ingredients to a large bowl and mix together with your hands, breaking up the butter into smaller pieces. Sprinkle crumble evenly on top of apples and bake for 35 minutes, until golden brown.
